Stamped Concrete at Applehead Island Roundabout
This pattern stamp, made to look like pavers, is more durable for sustained vehicle traffic.
Once the concrete is poured we step in and stamp it. This is much more durable than an overlay, and it plays to everyone's strengths: placement contractors do site work, reinforcement, and placement more efficiently than we can, but having a team of detail guys to take over the process when it is time to stamp results in a better finish.
Once stamped, we wet scrubbed and pressure washed it. Then chemically stained with Kemiko acid stain. Acid staining is the best way to get Earth-tones in stamped concrete. This was done with English Red and Black stain. We then neutralized it with an industrial strength, low VOC, high performance water based cleaner per industry best practices. After thoroughly drying, we sealed it with an oil-based acrylic sealer.
